Earlier this week, the base of my Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettle went dark. No flicker. No warning. The display was simply blank. The kettle’s metal body was fine, but the powered base — the part that heats the water and controls temperature — was lifeless.

As much as I like to repair things, I’d hesitate with high watt appliances like water heaters and toasters. The fire risk is too high for me to attempt my own fix.
