The California Palms are a professional women’s lacrosse team based in San Diego playing for the Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL). The WLL is run by the men’s PLL and often share the same spaces/broadcast equipment. While the announcers mentioned the Palm’s inaugural season, the league has been around since 2025 and the Palms were the runner’s up to the New York Charging in the Feb 2026 championship. So it was a lot of fun seeing California beat up their championship rivals live.

This game took place immediately after the California Redwoods played for the PLL so I’ll avoid repeating myself too much. It was all the same excellent production of the PLL, but with a women’s team playing. Honestly I enjoyed watching the Palms play a lot more. Beyond the better scoring record in their play, the women’s teams don’t wear helmets and have different contact rules. I think this translated to less bashing bodies and more tactical play. Either way, the Palms put on a show and beat the Charging 16-9. I really like the Palms’ logo so I ended up buying one of their hats after the game.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next WLL game I can catch because it was a fun ride.
