Short thoughts and replies that weren't a whole blog post.

  1. @chiccychiccy @AmericanAir @united I will say they are better than United. But it is disappointing that airlines keep adding unnecessary constraints to customers to save a few bucks.

  2. Not the first time this has happened and the gate attendant was not interested in helping us. As we left we could hear her complaining about other customers.

  3. Even though we communicated we needed to skip baggage claim @AmericanAir forced us to check our carry-on bags…got on the plane and there was plenty of overhead room. 😡

  4. One of my favorite parts of @Team_eBird is learning about different bird migrations. Here you can see the times when these birds pass through New York.

  5. git checkout becoming git switch & git restore. This makes so much more sense. 👍👍 git checkout has too many responsibilities. It's used for both switching branches, and for restoring individual files to a previous state. So in git 2.23, it's being split into two distinct commands:git switch & git restoreA...

  6. Things were better in 2005. Just ask @TalkScript @JSConfUS and @pottedmeat 🧐😉🧐 React, TypeScript, and Prettier are some of the best things that happened in frontend development in recent years. I cannot imagine going back.— Marius Schulz (@mariusschulz) August 16, 2019

  7. Interesting idea to expose the focus functionality of browsers. Let’s make Browser Focus work for us… Spread the word about the Focus Traversal API Proposal!https://t.co/wqkVUU1PsY#FocusTraversalAPI #JavaScript #Web #JSConfUS— R. I. (@areinet) August 12, 2019

  8. It was cool to see a working prototype of a dynamic braille device. Glad to people working on making technology more accessible. github.com/braillejs twitter.com/sammenza/statu…

  9. I’m excited to join some of my @sitepen coworkers at @JSConfUS 2019!

  10. Ethiopia is doing some pretty amazing work to make the land more drought resistant. Amazing stuff. twitter.com/beza_y/status/…

  11. Do people still click on the “Like” button? There is no need to have Facebook watching every page. Companies using Facebook 'Like' button liable for data: EU court https://t.co/fM3EyrZ6nL pic.twitter.com/bpMEpao6j7— Reuters (@Reuters) July 29, 2019

  12. Thanks for letting me get on my soapbox.

  13. It’s actually nice to not have so many plastic bags and trash. Unfortunately right now reducing our own waste requires questioning a lot of what is suggested in the store.

  14. “…the rising popularity of clamshell containers, for example, means that foods that could have gone to compost or animal feed may instead go to landfill because distributors and retailers would have to pay someone to remove the plastic.”

  15. Also, composting is a great way to reduce trash, separate the smelly stuff, and put nutrients back in the ecosystem. Plastic packaging gets in the way of that.
