Creme Brulee
Here’s a friend’s recipe. We’ve also used this recipe from alton brown which also adds vanilla bean.
Summary
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 40 minutes
- Servings: 6 ramekins
Ingredients
- 1 Tsp. Vanilla
- 2 1/2 Cup Heavy Cream
- 6 Egg yolks
- 1 Cup Sugar (retain half for caramelizing top)
Directions
- Heat water for water bath
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C)
- Heat cream but don’t boil–just steam
- Beat eggs and 1/2 cup of sugar
- Add vanilla and cream to eggs
- Pour mixture into ramekins already placed into a deep baking dish
- Pour water into dish and fill to 1 inch from the top of the ramekins
- Cook in oven for 25-30 minutes
- Remove, cool, chill for 4+ hours
- Caramelize top with remaining sugar
